WHAT IS THE FELLOWSHIP’S ROLE?

The Fellowship is a non-profit making members’ association formed to apply to become the governmental regulator the probate and willwriting industry.

HOW WILL THE FELLOWSHIP CARRY OUT ITS ROLE?

In order show the Government that the Fellowship is equipped to regulate the industry, and above all, to give the consumer greater protection than currently exists, the Fellowship has laid down certain key professional standards for both academic and conduct requirements.

The academic standards are maintained by the requirement that members achieve willwriting qualifications offered by Edexcel, the largest awarding body in the UK. These qualifications are vocational, assignment based and, best of all, are nationally recognised. Competence is demonstrated by BTEC certification.

Conduct requirements are contained in a Code of Conduct, modelled on the Office of Fair Trading and Law Society codes. This code, drawn up by the Regulatory Board, lays down the standards expected of members and it is this body that will monitor and enforce these standards.

WHO CREATED THE FELLOWSHIP?

The managers of Estate Protection Services Limited, a successful willwriting company, devoted a substantial amount of time, effort and money into forming the Fellowship. EPS Ltd. believe that by investing in a body whose aim is to secure governmental regulation, significant and lasting benefits for the consumer will be achieved.

WHAT IS THE FELLOWSHIP’S CONSTITUTION?

The Fellowship is managed by an executive committee supported by both an Academic Board and an independent Regulatory Board. The Academic Board, made up of people from the world of education and business, has responsibility for setting and maintaining the training and development requirements through Edexcel, whilst the Regulatory Board, comprising people from industry and the professions, has responsibility for setting and maintaining standards for all its members.

Both the Academic Board and the Regulatory Board operate entirely independently from the executive committee and, indeed from any other organisation, including EPS Ltd.
